Technology Shopping

There are so many devices on the market, it can be a challenge trying to choose the perfect one. Buying new technology is not the easiest and you want to make sure you’re making the right purchase.
Before you do anything, here are some important questions to ask yourself:

Who will be using the device and what will they be using it for?

This is very important when buying new technology as everyone uses technology for different reasons. If it is for a student for example, you may want to keep in mind it will probably be used for both educational and entertainment use. Or if it’s for business, you may want to consider looking for a device that works as hard as you do and ensure it runs business apps.

Is the time right?

Choosing when to buy is almost as important as what to buy. Many manufactures have predictable product cycles and if there is a chance of a new model on its way it may be best to wait so you don’t miss out. Keep up with the latest tech news and rumours so you’re prepared.

Are you prepared to accessorize?

Usually buying new technology comes with a few extra costs, all of which are usually very useful. For example, when buying a new computer consider that you may want to buy a new external hard drive to back up data, or ant-virus software to keep your new computer protected.

Now onto some important factors to consider as you shop:

Flexibility-

An easy way to narrow down your decision when choosing a device is to ask yourself how flexible it is. For example, if you rarely use a keyboard, a tablet is the way to go. However, if you are somewhere in-between like most of us you may want to consider a convertible device. Devices like the Microsoft Surface Pro transforms from a laptop to a tablet!

Battery-

Long battery life should be one of your top considerations, unless you want to be charging the device all of the time.

Screen-

Screens are getting bigger, better and sharper than ever before. However, if having a good screen is your key requirement. You may want to consider devices with 4,000 pixels of horizontal resolution or a 4K screen – this is roughly twice the resolution of most televisions on the market.

Budget-

We all have a budget and there are many affordable devices on the market that still allow you to do most things you need it to. Be sure to shop around and compare prices before buying.
